Edward Steichen - Landscapes
Maybe there are something more sublime that pictures of landscapes by veteran photographer Edward Steichen, but not many. Born in 1879, this pioneer of modern photography has covered a wide area of styles but his landscapes or urbanscapes are absolutely magical and spread a quasi-metaphysical vibration. Here are some of my favorites, all taken in the 20 first years of last century but that could have been done yesterday. I add 2 nudes that make me think of Henner (the painter) and that show how great was this man. The last picture is from a series on the (rather awful) statue of Balzac by Rodin. The shoot is better than the sculpture. This artist could create mystery with anything. Did not find a site devoted to this artist so I can only post a link to the online works you can find here.
