Tanyth Berkeley - Grace

This New Yorker photographer, born in 1969 and most known for her strong and moving portraits of people with uncommon physics, has taken in 2006 a series of pictures of a young woman called Grace, a so-called albino girl, and she made her look as a modern icon. A fierce descendant of Cindy Sherman and Nan Goldin, Tanyth Berkeley deserves to be feasted for her ability to make us feel in empathy with the humans she offers to our eyes. We feel better after seeing her pictures. And it's not so often in this artistic discipline. Some more on her here or there (a long interview).
