Margaret M. de Lange - Surrounded by no-one

This Norwegian photographer born in 1963 is mainly known for her Sally Mann's inspired project "Daughters" in which she took photos (black and white) of her two daughters during their childhood and adolescence. These pictures were shot between 1994 and 2006 and published in 2009, where she provided a rather similar (and controversive in these times of pedophilia-phobia that precludes any child nudity on picture, even for familial, aesthetic or artistic reasons, because some will use them for their onanist activity) iconography than her American pair, except for the Nordic mythological dimension. If you don't know this wonderful series, you can see it (at least a selection of images) on the artist's site here. But this post is about her following project, entitled "Surrounded by no-one" and in which she took stunning pictures (here again in black and white) of adults posing in very naturalistic and intimate manners and often surrounded by a stifling atmosphere of sadness and dereliction. Ths stigmata of age, surgery or what everyone makes to his body, are visible and seem to interest the photographer. There is here this special hardness that is frequent in Nordic photography and under my fingers it's a compliment. You can find other images of this series there, I've only chosen my faves.

jà-ant - Various

Behind jà ant is Javier Antruejo, a young photographer from Argentina, who is also a drummer and an illustrator. His work belongs to one of these many iconographic projects illustrating everyday life of youngsters living as freely as anyone can dream, at least physically, and this is rather consolating in these times of prudery revival. "Tenderness, erotism, sense of humor and experimentation" are the words he uses to characterise his images. Nothing revolutionary but enough to deserve to be selected and chosen among similar ones. My selection is of course very subjective and I won't have the pretention to say I chose the best pictures, only some that touched me more for a reason or another (often their transgressive content as I'm rather sensible to this dimension in photography). You can see more, much more from him on his tumblr (here) and Instagram (there) accounts. Note that in the latter, images are rather audacious and some tits are left unhidden. Maybe a failure in the detection power of this social network.

Marthe by Pierre Bonnard

I've been a Pierre Bonnard aficionado for many decades now. As soon as I was a teenager and I discovered some of his emblematic paintings notably "L'indolente" (1899) , "Le couple" (1900) and "Marthe au tub" (1908). In these " fantastic paintings, the model was Marthe (her real name was Maria Boursin, also known as Marthe de Meligny) that he will meet in 1893 (he is 26 years old, she is 24) and who will become his wife in 1925 (i.e., 32 years later). She will be his muse during all their marital life until her death in 1942, 5 years before his. But he not only painted her in the most common tasks of everyday life, eroticising them in the best way, but he also took several photographies of her. In these pictures, he was still more inclined toward the erotic dimension of their relation and the sensuality of these images is no less than stunning. Here some shots I could gather from the web. I decided to treat all of them in black and white also some are in sepia-like to homogenize the post. And I think they are better this way. If I feel particularily in empathy with Pierre Bonnard on this series, it's because I'm conducting for the  first time in my life a similar visual testimony with my beloved wife, and that makes these images still more relevant to my own situation. This post is of course dedicated to her. You can find these pictures on my Instagram account (here), unfortunately with the silly retrograde censorship on female nipples and genitals . Don't jusdge them too harsh, they are all done with my smartphone and reworked only with an appli to retouch pictures (Pixlr).
