George K Mann - Photographs

























He's most known as a vaudeville comedian than as a photographer, but it is  said he took more than 12,000 photographs in his life (1905-77). There's a sane vulgarity and crudity in his pictures of women that I selected above. It belongs to the rather classic erotic genre of the 40's and 50's but it's not without a real presence of the models when so many of the then cliches seem unreal and fake. The last one is particularly audacious and amusing I think. Strange to think that this so prude and censored period tolerated so much bare breast and tits when our so-called freedom present period consider any nipple as extremely shocking and porn.
