Marthe by Pierre Bonnard

I've been a Pierre Bonnard aficionado for many decades now. As soon as I was a teenager and I discovered some of his emblematic paintings notably "L'indolente" (1899) , "Le couple" (1900) and "Marthe au tub" (1908). In these " fantastic paintings, the model was Marthe (her real name was Maria Boursin, also known as Marthe de Meligny) that he will meet in 1893 (he is 26 years old, she is 24) and who will become his wife in 1925 (i.e., 32 years later). She will be his muse during all their marital life until her death in 1942, 5 years before his. But he not only painted her in the most common tasks of everyday life, eroticising them in the best way, but he also took several photographies of her. In these pictures, he was still more inclined toward the erotic dimension of their relation and the sensuality of these images is no less than stunning. Here some shots I could gather from the web. I decided to treat all of them in black and white also some are in sepia-like to homogenize the post. And I think they are better this way. If I feel particularily in empathy with Pierre Bonnard on this series, it's because I'm conducting for the  first time in my life a similar visual testimony with my beloved wife, and that makes these images still more relevant to my own situation. This post is of course dedicated to her. You can find these pictures on my Instagram account (here), unfortunately with the silly retrograde censorship on female nipples and genitals . Don't jusdge them too harsh, they are all done with my smartphone and reworked only with an appli to retouch pictures (Pixlr).
